pohybová performancia
A body surrenders to gravity and falls into the unknown. In the irreversibility of this act, it suddenly resists fate – with effort, it halts time and, transformed, returns to the beginning.
The performative exhibition by choreographer Juraj Korec and art theorist Michaela Hučko Pašteková explores ongoing cycles of falling and returning, the separation from unity, and the rebirth of individuality across the epochs of civilization. Drawing inspiration from the sci-fi poetics of the choreographic work Story (Korec and Hriešik, 2024), the piece positions the dancing body at the event horizon of a collapsing world order, engaging with dilemmas surrounding the use of AI. Earlier this year, Non-Story also served as the basis for a 24-hour protest performance in front of the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic, where falling bodies became a metaphor for exhausted cultural workers and the broader disintegration of cultural institutions in the country.
